Frequently Asked Questions
Permanent makeup

How long does permanent makeup last?

It depends on the type of skin you have, medications and sun exposure.  Where eye brows are concerned, clients with oilier skin and skin with underlying redness are not the best candidates as they will not take pigment as well and require more procedures to perfect the look.  Underlying redness means more blood flow and can affect the end color.  Medications can have an effect if not discontinued before the procedure.  It is best to stop aspirin, fish oil and flax seed supplements, to name a few, before the procedure.  Where lip procedures are concerned, a client is recommended to take an anti-viral medication a few days before and during the healing process if they are prone to herpes, cold sores or fever blisters.  Sun exposure can fade the procedure and it is advised to wear sunscreen especially on the brows and lips.

Does it hurt?

Proper numbing is different for everyone as it can take 15 minutes for some and 30 minutes for others.  Also, those that are taking pain medication do not numb as well.  For those clients I apply more numbing product to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

How long does it take to heal?

The process of healing can take up to two weeks when cared for properly.  You will get an after-care sheet with specific instructions for the various areas.  Procedures can feel achy for a few days and flaking of pigment is normal.  Do not pick or pull the skin.

Who cannot have permanent makeup?

Pregnant and/or nursing women should not have permanent makeup.  If you have ocular diseases, check with your ophthalmologist before considering the procedure for eye liner.  If you have had any type of cancer in the last year and have had chemotherapy, check with your oncologist to determine if this is right for you.

Who can benefit from eyebrow procedure?

- If you have over-plucked eyebrows

- If you have gaps or scars where hair has not grown back

- If you are suffering from light, weak hair or hair loss

- If you want a particular shape for your eyebrows

How does this compare to eyebrow extensions?

Unlike eyebrow extensions, which you have to be careful about maintaining, microblading or permanent makeup is low maintenance.  After healing, you can rub them and enjoy swimming.  No special care is required except for a brief touch-up once a year.

I had permanent cosmetics brow procedure done elsewhere which I’m not happy about, can it be fixed?

In most cases we can significantly improve your bad brow procedure, depending on how much time you want to invest and whether or not your skin is scarred. Correcting bad work is never going to give you the same beautiful brow as we could have created on untattooed skin, but certainly an improvement is possible.  However, tattoo removal may be required and you’ll need to seek a professional laser technician.

Can you do touch up work that I've had done somewhere else?

This is very possible but you need to realize that a “color correction” is often needed and may not just be a simple touch-up.
